All In One Wireless Printer, Scanner And Copier

HP Photosmart C4780 All In One Printer

HP Photosmart C4780

This is my review of the HP Photosmart C4780 all in one printer. Traditionally for HP printers, they are known for their exceptionally good handling and sturdy performance.

So although there are currently several competing manufacturers selling printers with significantly more functions and better looks, we are taking time to discuss a really cool wireless printer which is quite old but yet provides a reliable ink to pages ratio and lower operating cost from the HP stable.

Why Buy An All In One?

We love the general convenience of an all in one printer. One single device that takes care of all the general office work such as printing, scanning, copying and also saving a considerable amount of space, had we been required to buy three different pieces of equipment for the same jobs.

Also it basically takes less time to understand how to operate one single device than to understand the functions of three different devices.

Some critics would say that irrespective of all the benefits, if one of the functions fails, the whole device has to be sent out to the repair shop.

But the fact is that for small offices or home offices the considerable savings in cost and the convenience of photo quality printing is too much to overlook.

The Photosmart C4780 Does Everything

It scans at up to a resolution of 1200 dpi with the maximum scanning area being 8.5” x 11.7”.

It can print in full color at 23 pages per minute and in all black at 29 pages per minute.

If you need a 4” x 6” photo to be printed on Hewlett Packard 4” x 6” photo paper, it gives you a stunning print in 29 seconds flat. The HP Photosmart C4780 multifunction printer is ideal for a small office or home office and certainly ideally suitable for home uses where the amount of pages printed is not too much.

The printer is perfectly capable of serving an operating duty of 1000 pages per month easily. It can handle pages from as small as 3” x 5” to 8.5” x 11”.

What About The Wireless?

Even for an older piece of equipment, the HP Photosmart C4780 comes with an important feature and that is wireless printing. Most of the time when we require a new device in our small office or home office, the first thing that we think of is how to connect to it so that we can access it from any corner of the home or the office.

Traditional wire based connectivity and networking creates a lot of issues. Whether you set it up as a stand alone device and then access it over a dedicated IP from any location in the home or office, you still need a wire to get it connected.

With computers and networks becoming smarter and wireless, you need a printing solution that can keep up. That’s where the HP Photosmart C4780 is so good.

It gives the reliability of a cost effective printing solution and yet comes with a trustworthy and effective WiFi set-up system that allows you to not only connect it wirelessly from your laptop or desktop located at any corner of the home or office but even print without the need for a computer at all, if you choose to.

Printing Without A Computer

One of the greatest advantages of the C4780 all in one printer is the ability to print without the need for a computer.

You can wirelessly connect any digital camera or device with it and print using the onboard screen where you can see the photograph. The HP TouchSmart frame allows you to check the photograph using the color display on the printer and then print it.

Save Paper While You Print

The ability to print on both sides of the paper is an important paper saving feature of the HP Photosmart C4780. It allows you to print several pages on both sides of the paper.

So for regular printing or when you only need a draft copy of a report or document to be printed, this feature will save you a considerable amount of money spent on paper and at the same time save a bit of the environment too.

This feature goes very well with the HP Smart Web Print feature. Many times we need something to print from the web. Be it documents or articles that we need for our reference or study purposes, we regularly take content from the web.

The common way we do that is select the page where the content is and then click on print. If it has several other areas, overlays, ads etc. everything is printed along with the content that we need, which could be at times only about a few paragraphs.

So evidently we not only waste paper, but we waste a lot of ink as well. The HP Smart Web Print allows you to select only the content area that you need to be printed and print only that part.

So this evidently again saves a considerable amount of money in ink and paper while it also serves as an important eco-friendly benefit of the HP Photosmart C4780 all in one.

Cost Effective Ink Solution

The HP Photosmart C4780 is a low ink consuming printer. Considering the fact that it can produce up to 200 pages using a standard black HP cartridge and up to 600 pages using a XL cartridge it is quite an inexpensive solution when it comes to ink consumption.

What's In The Box

Along with your HP Photosmart C4780 comes a power supply cord, a USB cable, a standard HP black cartridge and a tri-color cartridge, the installation Disc and a user manual.

What Other Are Saying About The C4780?

Most users who have purchased the HP Photosmart C4780 Printer are happy with its paper saving and ink saving features. Needless to say the ability to print without the need for a computer allows them the much needed convenience when they are only printing photos from their digital cameras.

The HP SmartPrint is also an important feature. It allows for the user to print only what he needs from the web. For a home printing solution for photos, the stunning output on a 4” x 6” photo paper sheet makes this a great solution for printing your memories without having to leave the convenience of your home.

My final take on the HP Photosmart C4780 All In One printer. Overall a great machine to have if you are looking for an economic model that saves paper and ink while it prints.

It has several functions that make it a formidable force in the Inkjet group of printers and can even give several more feature rich models that are currently available a run for their money with its low operating cost.

While some people have faced problems with the wireless WiFi feature, with a full fledged HP development and support team working, things can never really go that bad. In fact in my personal experience they offer a better customer support service than a lot of the other manufacturers do.
